About

RPTN.Net acts as the parent company for RimaSec Internet Services, The Montreal Radio, The Montreal Store, Montreal Porn, Net VRS and founder of the old RebelChat IRC Network that was renamed to the RPTN IRC Network.

Rick FournierMy name is Rick Fournier, born Richard P. Thomas, thats what “RPT” stands for. I was born in Denver Colorado, USA. I currently live in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

I created the RebelChat IRC Network during high school. I hate Windows and turned to Linux during that time, went on to using FreeBSD as a desktop replacement. I unfortunately still run Windows 2000 on my laptop for the “corporate world” (and it still runs fine).

My ComputersI refuse to buy Windows XP or Vista, maybe a Mac! but I don’t like how Steve Jobs is acting with his new iPhone. I like Steve Jobs over Bill Gates none the less. What I don’t like is how Apple reacted to the iPhone hackers. Now to get one thing straight, Mac OS X came from FreeBSD (free software) and Apple hired one of their lead developers to work on the Darwin project (free software) that later become Mac OS X that’s now owned by Apple and it’s no longer (free software).

Rick FournierSome folks say I’m a pirate or rebel, others a hacker, others a white hat, others a grey hat, it all depends how we got to meet each other. I’m a true believer of karma, and what goes around comes around. I’m American and Pro Gun, so my Internet habits will reflect such mentality. I would consider myself white hat because I do not trust today’s legal system or media corporations. I will not be afraid to use my skills when they are so needed, to protect what I stand for, online or offline.

picture029_10nov07.jpgI’m also a business entrepreneur, I managed an internet service provider, managed a bar/pool hall, manged a depanneur, created an internet service provider, created an online radio station, created an online store, created an adult entertainment website and a video rental service. I’m always looking for ways to make cash with online ventures. During high school I also got the chance to be a teacher for a short while, teaching computer students HTML in the late 90’s!

GingerI’m also a devoted animal lover, especially horses, and dogs. I used to ride horses when I was younger and my grand parents bought a horse, at the time things where great, but because of family reasons I dropped ridding all together. My mother runs Sophie’s Dog Adoption (a non profit organization) that rescues abandoned dogs and places them into foster homes until she finds them a good new home, that’s how I got my dog Ginger (at the time an 8 pound chihuahua) that eats everything she can find.

im000621.jpgIn simple terms RPTN is a network of internet services, with various web sites and services such as chat rooms, blogs, web hosting, and online broadcasting (video or music). We still run the IRC part of things, because I’m old school. IRC is what used to make the internet tick, and it still does play a role in the internet but not as much as it once did, but with well over 100,000,000+ users spread across various IRC networks around, IRC is still around and will never die. Unfortunately IRC is not what it was once, the general masses are more concentrated on the Big Four, rather then the medium networks of the days because IRC has become more “professional” and matured to where companies even use IRC these days. IRC however still remains as the internet’s “under ground” in all it’s good and bad ways.

010114504249800.jpgHurricane Katrina was something that also affected IRC and not just the American Gulf Coast. During the hurricane IRC was one of the better ways to stay informed with up to the latest (and unmoderated news) from people inside of New Orleans, and in the near by areas. IRC was not the only part of today’s technology that was involved during this hurricane. Ham radio operators where streaming local UHF transmissions online using streaming software such as shoutcast and icecast. IRC operators where then able to transcribe every word of these streams to a wider and bigger audience that was reading these updates on various IRC channels as real time military events unfolded during the weeks to follow. This allowed the world to listen into the and coast guards UHF transmissions, it was their only means of communication since all land lines and cell towers where down so what was going on the air waives turned out to be an amazing source of unmoderated news. This was not the first time IRC was involved in such ways, during the Gulf War (the first war with Iraq), IRC was used by news reporters to communicate with the outside world without getting monitored by Iraqi forces.

techie.jpg Wade Parker has been with RPTN.Net since it’s RebelChat days, living in Walker, Louisiana, USA. He survived Hurricane Katrina, even though he was out of the New Orleans path of destruction. Wade is a duck hunter, an electronics technician, and a ham radio operator. He runs various websites such as Linux IRC and LAVoted. He is also our IRC botnet killer, he searches and destroys evil botnets that connect to the RPTN.Net IRC Network, he got the thrill during the Fizzer attacks, and loved attacking the bloody worms back.

chu.jpg Sean West lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Sean used to run g33ks.net and continued working as a programmer on IRC services Rick had started in the mid 90’s with DarkDemon and GravtyKlz on the RebelChat IRC Network. These services where doomed from the start, and Sean re-wrote them but never competly finished them. For a time it was called Yoda (on the RebelChat network), K9 (on the “Chat-Net” network), CX (on the CyberChat network), RC (back on the RebelChat network), and forks of it got created from there, when the RebelChat Network released RcS on sourceforge. Sean used the RcS release and eventually re-wrote it to GeekServ, the source remains unavailable at this time. CB (on the RPTN network) has yet to be implemented because of a lack of desire. This service bot acted like X does on the UnderNet network, and how the “original” K9 acted on the “original” ChatNet network.

darkdemon.jpg DarkDemon has been around since the beggining of the RebelChat network as one of the 4 original founders. He currently lives in Texas, USA and has had many IRC nicknames, such as Astro, DarkCode, and many others that escape my memory right now. He is our programming guru. He can pretty much code whatever he wants in what ever language he wants, he is just usually never happy with his results until he recoded the same thing 100 different ways until he finds the optimal performance he is looking for. He still hangs around in #coders and idles like the rest of us.

mouse.jpgThe all mighty Mouse. She lives in Seattle, Washington, USA. She is a Solitary Wiccan, that wants to remain anonymous. She’s been around since the beginning of the RebelChat network and part of the older CServices team on the ChatNet network, that eventually split off to Chat-Net/CyberChat, she came along after Gowron and old time ChatNet server administrator and founder of ChatNet got kicked out for non sense. She later went on to starting her own Web Hosting business and became a well talented web graphics designer. Until recent years she was an active member but in the last few years has dropped out of sight, because of domestic issues.
